Yes maybe allergies, or thyroid.
Is your Ridgeback around 3 years of age.
Have your Vet consult with Dr Jean Dodds who does genetic thyroid testing. Full thyroid panel and only cost about 80.00 thru Dr Dodds.
Do a search on Dr jean Dodds and see all the info you come up with

and Kota genetic thyroid doggy Ridgeback,
misdiagnosed by Vets untill we got blood work off to Dr Dodds!
