Ah, I miss being a puppy parent. I can identify very well on the counter surfing, Joe is the WORST. The only thing I can say is just don't leave anything out. That has been the only way to stop him, and trust me I've tried everything. All of the other problems will eventually go away, the suggestion about yelping when the pup nips is like magic. When a puppy plays, he is thinking of you as another puppy. The way puppies learn social skills is to interact with other pups, and when one yelps, the pup generally stops doing whatever elicited the yelping. This goes along with another piece of advice. RRs are pretty big, so you want them to get along with other dogs. As soon as Joe was old enough (around 4 or 5 months), I started "socializing" him. Let him play with other pups, and if you have a neighbor or friend with a dog, they may even become best buds! (Joe's best bud is my parents' Cairn Terrier, Gizmo). Hope this helps!
