Lilly is the exact same way -- curious, but won't leave my side for very far. If the lure goes out of sight for a bit, forget it, she comes running right back to "tell" me about it. She loves playing with the lunge whip/lure in the yard/park, though, so I know it's not a lure issue; it's a mommy thing!
If you can get another trustworthy dog (will run, won't play or get growly over the lure), release him/her a second or two first, then let Selma go. Sometimes it takes having another RR show them how to do it.
