Here's a link to a review of several studies discussing the effects of an early spay/neuter. They do mention incontinence and the reviewed research (not in the short article) stated it may not become symptomatic until they are 2 years of age or older. http://www.caninesports.com/SpayNeuter.html
FWIW, two of my neighbors had their females spayed (one lab and one vizsla) at 6 and 8 months respectively and both began having leaking problems around 2 yesrs of age. The Vizsla began with recurring UTI's and leaking small urine spots when she slept. Poor thing would cry when it happened and not be able to return to her bed or sleep at all until her cover was changed. Anyhoo, she now gets cranberry pills in her food to help prevent UTI's and is also on a pill to prevent leakage. She's been on both those for over a year with great results. The Lab never had UTI's but when she started leaving small puddles she went on one of the incontinence pills and has been great on that as well with no leakage.
I hope you find a solution soon! Sounds like with so many others having similar challenges, regardless of the reason, that hopefully it will be an easy fix.
