Can you give a dog human portions of dramamine? I am probably going to feed her many hours before leaving to try to prevent that. But she has always, since being a puppy, gotten car sick even with an empty stomach. Actually, what I've noticed is that she's fine until you stop somewhere and go again, for some reason that bugs her tummy.

I'm not sure about having the cats loose in the cabin. Most likely in their carriers, they would be more comfortable in a small dark area with that kind of commotion going on. Most likely, the dog's crate becomes their home temporarily, in a hotel so they don't end up under a bed or somewhere else!

I know this seems crazy but I really don't have many options.
