If Lucius shakes his head while it the crate and he hits his ears on the crate mesh, he can split an ear. And the collar is the same thing: the tags on his collar hit his ears if he shakes his head. The tags on his collar actually do more damage than the crate, but since he doesn't really need to be crated anymore (though he still likes his crate), we took his crate away to eliminate the possibility.
