Lucy has managed to catch the campylobacter bacteria again. SO frustrating. We took her to the vet last night. The vet's best guess is that Lucy is stepping in feces, and later licking her paws. Very possible, I suppose, though Lucy is not a paw licker. At this point, I think we are also going to ban her from playing with our neighbor's puppy. He's had it a couple of times. I wonder if it's possible for a dog to be a carrier and not be sick? At any rate, we are starting another round of meds (Biosol and Metro) plus a new medicine (I forget the name, will have to check the label, starts with a P I think) that is supposed to help prevent her from catching it again. ARGH! I cannot WAIT until this spring when we move into a house and no longer share a common area with other dogs. Poor Lucy. At least this time we knew what we were looking at, so we were able to get her to the vet before she got dehydrated. Hopefully we're also catching it before it reaches the "leaking all over the floor" stage, but we'll see.
