The e-vet told me it would be $110 for her to prescribe a whole round of antibiotics, and she gave me a choice of how to proceed. I elected to get enough to get me to the regular vet on Monday. (That was the $40 option.) I made it out the door $505 lighter but feeling relieved to know what was wrong.
Thanks for the info re: bladder infections and prostatitis. That eases my mind a bit. Lucius had prostatitis when he was about 20 months old; we spent 2 hrs at a dog show standing downwind from an in-season b###h. No one ever told me there was a dog-equivalent of blue balls, but there is!
