Scamp , almost 2, neutered male registered. He was given to us at 3 months from a transfered family. We already had one rat terrier I got from the shelter who is an amazing dog. And we have a Jack russel mix who is very sweet, somewhat timid, both very cuddly. We have 2 older labs. N. females 13 and 11 one who has a failing heart. My youngest son took over this pup as his.
Unfortunately he is not"fitting" in well with our family. There has been no abuse, but he is very sensitive, somewhat fear aggressive, and is very jealous and will attack one of the labs ears if she comes near him.He also will 'go after' whoever he thinks the aggresser is.So when my two sons wrestle, he will bite at one of them. If they raise their voices or sound angry he can't handle it. He is also very fearful with strangers, and even if left alone will not approach them at all or will retreat, unlike our other dogs. He also goes after our horses by the fence and that concerns me.
He also seems to have a very low pain tolerance, which may be why he bites at the large dogs if they crowd him while I am petting them.
Now on the good side , he is a very affectionate dog one on one with the family. He sleeps with one or the other of my sons or me. He seems to have a preference for women, but is affectionate with the family, as long as no one wrestles or shouts. He is housebroken, comes when called, plays with the smaller dogs(though he is jealous for human attention) and tolerates our cats. He is snuggly and smart and I think a quiet home with less animals and kids would be good.
