My almost-three-year-old rat terrier Sawyer was recently diagnosed with dry eye in both eyes. He has seen a little improvement (from zero to 2 mm...normal being 15) with optimmune ointment and was switched yesterday to a cyclosporine drop (a more concentrated form of the ointment...and so much easier to apply!). There is a potential that he could be allergic to the corn oil in the drop, and I have my fingers crossed his irritation is temporary and that he isn't allergic. I think surgery is the next option, and I'd hate to have to put him through that.
Has anyone dealt with dry eye with their rat terriers? Any advice or info would be much appreciated.
