All of my dogs accept the cat that is indoors. Sometimes, the pack instinct does take over and I have to stop the dogs from chasing him - good thing he is a really big kitty! So far, they have done pretty well accepting indoor cats at my and another friend's house.
However, if the same cat was outside, I think that he would be dead. I hunt with all of my dogs, and most of them have a really strong prey drive - one of my dogs has had no problem in the past killing stray cats and kittens - and she is my best hunter.
If you teach a dog to ignore something that runs, you are going to teach them to ignore all things that run. It's a terrier - if it moves, it's on their radar - and they are going to want to kill it. Same thing goes with any type of sighthound.
Just my .02.
