Give her something to watch and follow and then lead. I would take a puppy in for up to two months and see if there isn't a huge change in the demeanor of the older dog. I bet it will be a success!
I have found that the more you pamper one like this the worse she gets. Ignore this shaking and shivering(we call it terrier "vibration"!) and praise her for a more aggresive attitude rather than coddling her insecurities.
Try it and see?
