what junction block is on the firewall

can someone tell me On a cutlass supreme, what the junction block located on the firewall on the drivers side behind the master cylinder is for. I want to replace it with a better one and I dont kow what it is. It is long with a couple wires going to it. and has a square box that is screwed to the wall that it pops in and out of. thank for any info
