I am about to put my caps back on and took a sample piece of the caulk that was under my caps to the local automotive paint store. It is still flexible after more than 40 years. They sold me a beige 3M seam sealer, fast and firm #08505 that will stay somewhat soft like the original stuff. I'm resealing all the way across the front header. I think I have the correct stuff for the job, I just want to be sure because this leading edge is subjected to the wind and rain when driving and would certainly be the main source of wind driven rain leaks. Any comments? Correct sealant before I go gooping it on?

: Your correct, the glue is what's holding it in
: place. You will need to use glue as well or
: the water will follow the cracks and lean on
: your lap on the inside. I believe 3m makes
: the glue your looking for.

: Im replacing my end caps on my convertable,
: one pillar trim piece and weather strip for
: the pillar. My question is once I get the
: screws off the pillar trim and the end cap
: what else is keeping them attached? I think
: its just some kind of adhesive glue. Am I
: correct? Do I just pull on the parts to
: release them? And when I install the new
: parts Do I use silicone to replace the glue?
: How about the pillar weather strip, what
: keeps it in place? thanks for any help
