I just put disc brakes from a 72 Cutlass on my 67 and the donor proportioning valve was all full of crud. I tried to get some parts to rebuild it,(seal on the rear mainly) but not possible. None of the parts stores (NAPA etc) carry proportioning valves or parts for them. I didn't want to spend $90 or so for the adjustable so I found one at the local wrecking yard for $5 on a 76 Regal with a still sealed brake system. Took it home and flushed it with clean fluid and it fit perfect with no problem. Brakes work great and has good pedal feel. I would NOT run discs with a drum proportioning valve.

: The proportioning valve distributes 60% of the
: braking force to the front brakes, with out
: it the braking force is split evenly between
: the front and rear (50%). The valves are
: available through most good supply house and
: custom brake shops (ie. S.S.Brakes). There
: is also manual adjustable ones available,
: they give you the ability to adjust the
: force distribution to fit your driving
: habits.

: I believe it will "work", but not
: the way it should. I forget which way, but
: without it, it will either have too much or
: not enough front brakes. So essentially
: you'd be without front or rear brakes. I
: certainly wouldn't run it that way!

: on my 67 442, the gentleman i bought the car
: from, installed some 1970 disc brakes from a
: vista cruiser on the car, and he drove it
: for a few years like that....he did not
: install the block, that most
: disc brake set ups run on the car. He said
: it always worked fine, but i would asume it
: needs to be installed to work
: correctly..will it work ok without it, or
: ?????
