The proportioning valve distributes 60% of the braking force to the front brakes, with out it the braking force is split evenly between the front and rear (50%). The valves are available through most good supply house and custom brake shops (ie. S.S.Brakes). There is also manual adjustable ones available, they give you the ability to adjust the force distribution to fit your driving habits.
