Howard, it's not really hard. Start by setting everything back to the factory setting. Carb screws, 1.5 turns from fully closed. Then set the idle to factory specs for your vehicle based on things like AC and manual v. Auto transmission. The next step works best if you have a vacuum gage. Hook up the gauge and adjust the primary screw until the vacuum increases, this will be accompanied by an increase in idle speed. Reset the idle to desired setting. Take spin around the block and make sure the idle is still fine. Note: the idle should not be increasing or decreasing on its own and the motor should not be shaking or moving arounsd too much. Both of these conditions are indications of too rich or lean. If it is not running right readjust the mixture and reset the idle. Good luck!
