And regarding the thread title, I have long ignored TMB as any site to get good Bible understanding from. So perhaps I can also be excused for posting off topic here on a far more important matter than TMB being officially 2x2 only by mod4 ruling.
I was invited to a Bible study put on by two Jehovah’s Witness leaders who brought a young lady (in training) along with them. And as we began that study I told them that I would not participate at all if they used their New World translation because the chairman of the JW translation committee was asked in a court of law to translate (in court) the easiest of Greek Bible text and could not translate it. They easily agreed to use the KJV instead and off we went with that Bible study. I pointed to Hebrews 1:8 where the Father calls Jesus “God.” And they had no reply – clearly the Bible has the Father calling His Son “God.” And soon, as we proceeded into looking at the common incommunicable attributes of God shared by Jesus and the Holy Spirit (such as knowing everything or being everywhere at once) they were getting very nervous in their body language and stumbling at replies that made little if any sense – and these guys were TRAINED, unlike workers. They soon tried to turn the study away from anything I had to say as if to cut me out of their study entirely, and that did not work because others in the study repeated the questioning regarding Hebrews 1:8, John 1:1 and on and on with Bible text after Bible text that clearly identify Jesus and the Holy Spirit as God. Turning back to me directly they tried their favourite trick used to turn off any Bible discussion regarding the identity of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, which was an accusatory tone accusing me of “believing the doctrine of the Trinity.” I had not used the word “Trinity” at all and replied, “I hate that word.” They asked me “Why?” And I replied, “Because it has turned many nice people like yourself away from looking at God’s word on who He is, which is tragic because the Father called His Son “God” and lots of nice people who have heard that that’s what the doctrine of the Trinity teaches reject what God has said about Himself because of a word coined by a man in attempt to simplify a long group of over seven hundred verses of Scripture identifying Jesus as God. They ended their Bible study rather than admit what they already had admitted by accusing me of believing the doctrine of the Trinity. And I think the workers and 2x2s who have become aware of who God says He is in His word suffer the same rejection of anything close to the wording of the creeds – just human pride that will not admit they have been WRONG all along. And Nathan seems to be attempting to avoid the wording of the creeds because that wording is “Trinitrian.”
