Two workers placed a half page ad in a little local newspaper for a series of "Bible Lectures." And that deceptive ad did draw in a Christian lady on its first session which was advertised as "Who Jesus is..." And after the "Gospel" meeting (not Bible Lecture) was finished she confronted one of the workers because neither even mentioned that Jesus is God.
You are correct in all you have said so far, the one worker confronted by that lady was TRUTHFUL (rarity indeed) and flat-out declared, "We don't believe that Jesus is God." And then he offered to get together with that woman (privately) - she literally ran out of the door.
I followed her and with difficulty mannaged to have a chat with her regarding 2x2ism. I mentioned that the preachers believe they are copies of Jesus - she replied, "Oh my goodness, they did ssay that didn't they!!!!"
At that series of "Bible Lectures" one session found the 2x2s locked out on the street. And since they saw me I had no choice but to engage in conversation with those workers on the street. And to their dismay (obvious nervousness) I had a real gospel meeting on the street in front of the entire gathered group of 2x2s - and they did hear my message given right out of Scripture word for word. Lots of them were laughing at me, but the Bible's message was delivered and whether they ever had a thought of what God said later is not my job, it is God's job.
