I was born in a 2x2 meeting. And what I mean by that is that I was taken into a 2x2 meeting as a very young baby.
I was born in a very small town and our house was on the outskirts at that, completely surrounded with forests and their content of an abundance of wildlife. And there were no 2x2s in that place except our family.
Once I grew to school age and learned to read, I was provided a Bible. And the social restrictions of 2x2ism cut my family completely off from everyone who lived near us – not them leaving us alone, but us completely separating ourselves from them by workers’ instruction/sermon.
From the foregoing, some might realize that where I lived when I knew nothing else, the workers’ many messages about their style of ministry fit right into the only life I already knew. And the workers’ many messages pressuring the young to first consider becoming workers seemed right in keeping with the only life I already knew.
And even though my youth had a great deal to do with my resulting (possibly) serious focus on and honesty before God, I did not become a worker nor did I spend much time beyond the time I had no control over it, going to 2x2 meetings because no one in those meetings taught what I read in my Bible. But I did become a “Jesus Freak” among what were known as “hippies.” And while I never joined up with those hippies either, I became a freelance speaker of Biblical type with almost anyone who would engage conversation with me.
So, what I would like to tell especially young 2x2s who might be considering becoming workers is simply this – you don’t need workers or a so called ‘nameless’ church that has church buildings while claiming they don’t etc. All you need is a Bible and time spent at least personally reading it frequently enough to learn what it actually says, but preferably studying it (with joy in that was my experience). God takes care of everything else when you are learning from HIM, without any human preachers.
Now when an experienced life-long preacher tells you that you don’t need any preacher, you might take that experienced observation into serious consideration before you decide to become a 2x2 worker. Workers can only preach to 2x2s in 2x2 meetings, and most of their time is spend preaching to 2x2s only.
If you think God has called you to be a preacher, get at it right where you are right now. And if that call was just your own mind after workers have beaten that idea into every young 2x2’s mind, you will soon KNOW whether God really called you to preach – and by all means, consider marriage even as a preacher, it is only workers who forbid marriage for their preachers. You can buy your own house, work your choice of trade to finance your own life even with family AND STILL PREACH. Paul put it like this, “16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!” 1 Corinthians 9:16) If God called you to preach you will soon KNOW because if you don’t preach because you don’t like what you get from almost everyone you preach to – if God really called you to preach YOU WILL PREACH in spite of the fact that preachers of the Biblical gospel get it in the neck from almost everyone they preach to – there is no glory for the preacher – not even the glory workers accept from 2x2s (only). Soon enough workers who accept glory from 2x2s will find out that they have already received their reward so need not expect any other reward.
