The idea that the Father was God for a while during creation, then became the Son during the time that Jesus walked this earth, then became the Spirit during a so called "Spirit age" after the crucifixion of the Son is an ancient heresy named Modalism (and several other heresy-titles). I was defeated by the church fathers hundreds of years ago, but continues to rase its ugly head throughout church history, mainly brought up and again again be Biblically illiterate so called Bible teachers. The same is true of the ancient heresy of Arianism (first put forward publicly by Arius), which is the theology of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (J.W.s) these days. And a few workers including the 2x2 founder William Irvine adopted it from Charles Russel, founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
The Jesus Only Movement re-raised Modalism shortly after William Irvine re-raised Arianism - and some workers have spoken from their platform spewing that same old defeated heresy.
And bishop Jakes is right in there re-raising Modalism all over again over the Trinity Broadcast Network (TV) - the founder of which is about as theologically illiterate as workers always have been. Those who flock to listen and learn that old heresy from such preachers are on;ly placing their eternal destiny at stake - no big deal, right?
