While reading the first few verses of Daniel 9, Daniel’s prayer, I connected that prayer with what I might pray today over the churches. And as I thought more on that I realized that I was doing just what William Irvine and his first embittered church goers did. And that made me realize that I was stll doing that same thing with regard to William Irvine and his gang when, really it was me that needed to change – not “they.” I have sinned and fallen short – just like “they” have. And in this end looking back over the church age of the new covenant given by God in and through Jesus, the churches wenbt the same route as the Jews had done before the church.
And these thoughts made me realize that Daniel’s pray is as much my prayer for the church as it was for him with regard to Israel. And I say this in that I know that with a Bible that Daniel did not have in my hands, I have not read (not having to memorize) God’s word as much as Daniel had memorized God’s word. May God have plenty of mercy for people like me who hold in the hand Old Covenant and New Covenant and yet know so little of Gos’s plan for repentant believers in spite of their sins.
Please have a read of Daniel’s prayer in Daniel 9 if you can read it with currency in mind – From what I see all around me on this planet today, I believe that believers are very near to meeting the Lord in the air.
