24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
(the word “he” is in italics in the KJV, which means that that word is not in the manuscript that the KJV translated. Therefore, when “he” is dropped out of the KJV text what is actually said is, “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am, ye shall die in your sins.”
Again in verse 28, without the italicised “he” in the KJV, the verse actually says, “Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”
Again in verse 58 – this time the translaters did not insert the italicised “he” – “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
As a result of Jesus claiming to be “I am” we see 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. The Jews did not stone people just because such people said something the Jews did not like – they stone people who blasphemed and they were commanded by God to stone blasphemers among them. Take a look at a similar occurrence:
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
So, Jesus claimed to be God, the Jews understood His claim very well, but rejected His claim on the grounds that they saw Him as only a man, in spite of all the works that He did that only God could do, right in front of their eyes. Similarly workers reject Jesus’ claim to be God on the grounds that a fathers son (a man’s son) is not his father – same short sighted rejection of the obvious that Jesus did miracles that ONLY God could do.
So, it is no surprise that the workers teach that 2x2s cannot know that they are saved when workers teach and believe in a man (only) just like those Jews. The blindness to the deity of Jesus is the same blindness in the 2x2s as it was in the Jews. And that kind of common human blindness can only be fixed by God Himself.
And so, to repeat for emphasis especially to the 2x2s, “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am, ye shall die in your sins.”
