"nor 2x2's regard workers as Messiahs (weak understanding that they have of that term). Making that sort of claim is an overstep that makes it easy for 2x2's to dismiss legitimate arguments that 2x2ism is an aberration, rather than an embodiment, of Christianity and Biblical teaching."
Workers have long taught that their sacrifices are to the benefit of 2x2 laity, along with their teaching that they are copies of Jesus Christ, giving their lives for 2x2 laity.
No worker I have known has ever claimed that he, she or all workers are the Messiah. But many of them have claimed to be continuing the work that Jesus began (as if He failed to finish) while Jesus is supposedly absent from this world.
I don't need to see a worker claim the title when they have laid claim to the work of the Messiah. Workers are Anti-church, Anti- Christ (as in place of Christ) and claim to be continuing the work of the Messiah "for" 2x2 laity - saviors if you like. And that analysis is not an overstep - it cites workers' historical claims.
Surely you are correct regarding workers and 2x2s being very weak in understanding anything about the title "Messiah" as well as few ever mentioning the word, "Messiah" or His work -- they barely mention the good news that Christ died for our sins, even using the title "Christ" which is Greek for "Messiah." But workers have long portrayed and claimed to be doing the work of the Messiah for 2x2 laity. Christ's work was "finished" as He said, on the cross. And workers are false christs therefore. And very poor copies of Jesus too.
