In Israel it required two witnesses giving the same witness testimony in OT Israel - that was not just for female witnesses, nor was it started in Israel during the life of Jesus on this planet.
With the emigration/imigrationt to America it was our society that put muzzles on our women. And it is our society that has since grown sloppy with great effort for years as that pendulum has been slowly forced to the extreme in the opposite direction. I don't think our society has diddly to brag about. With our society's pendulum-swing to what is merely called "equal voice" it is a wonder any man is not running away in fear of imprisonment for just looking at a woman.
Cultural norms of the Middle East (including Israel) TODAY make our society (Americas and English speaking countries) appear completely careless - meaning with no care about women at all.
Young men in Israel are not in a similar practice of bar-hopping picking up any woman who will smile at him for what we call "a one night stand".
I have had many Middle Eastern friends all my life, and the women generally pity American women who they think are nothing better off than easy sex toys for American men. And our short marriages, single moms and high divorce rates support their thinking.
A great difference is very basic, in America boys and girls "fall in love." Most of the Middle Eastern women I know "DECIDED to love." They are submissive to only their husbands, not every man on the street, as we seem to think of them.
So you might have a look through their eyes before applying our sloppy societal standards suggesting that THEY are abused women.
