I posted past information that is no longer the case in regard to the Roman Catholic Church – that it holds to the essential doctrines of Scripture. That is true in increasing fashion the further back in church history one looks – it has been decreasing towards false the further forward in church history one looks. Unfortunately, my studies concentrated on pretty old church history with little observation of degeneration of RC teachings.
According to the Pope of recent times, having a short history of what it called eccumentical efforts behind him, the present appeal to Protestant churches as well as all other religions now lumped together in that aim has completely swung off essential doctrines of Scripture over onto “brotherhood” and “love” and “good works.” It is noteworthy that the Pope’s attempts to unite Christianity under those non-essentials still aims at having Protestants re-joining the RC – it is in no case encouraging RC members to become Protestants, but most prominently the RC is aiming at uniting with all other religions – aiming at making itself into a one world religion at the expense of Biblical doctrines – and worst of all is that its efforts have become viral with many Protestants, who appear to also sacrifice Biblical essentials at the drop of a hat.
My apology for posting RC doctrines of ancient times in ignorance of completely unbiblical doctrines of today. The self-correction therefore is necessary from me – the RC no longer holds the Biblical essentials of salvation. It took a hammer hit on my head before I even took a look at the current situation, and hammer hits do hurt -- while I have RC friends over many past years, this is like losing them all overnight.
