God's gracious gift of salvation covers everyone, once for all, whether or not they know about the mechanics of salvation or grasp the nature of God. To reject God, Jesus and His gift of salvation, however, is to set up and rely on a god and a way of salvation that cannot not save. It's a dangerous thing to reject the offer and turn away to idols (relying on "alternative facts," an "alternative Jesus," a gospel that fits with one's own preferences, a god that conforms to your own definition and a salvation that follows one's own imagination).
The Bible does warn us against wresting scriptures according to personal interpretations, against false Jesuses, against other gospels, against other false gods, and against ways of salvation which cannot save. Yet people do choose to follow doctrines of men rather than the Bible, the only sure measure of God's revelation and provision.
There are more than a few people in the Two by Twos who are very ignorant of what the Bible says, and what they do know has been so twisted that it bears only a superficial resemblance to either what it actually says, let alone to over 2 millennia of accepted Christian teaching. Some have decided, and have said, that they prefer to put it all in the hands of the workers. What a horrifying thing! Not merely because the workers cannot save anyone, but because it shows that the workers have replaced God and Jesus in these people's minds.
