"Myself and a couple of other exes who also believe in the Trinity were trying to explore the possibility that there may have been a drift in teaching over the decades away from an early assumed understanding of the trinity (even if it wasn't clearly preached), as a number of hymns prior to 1987 appear to retain fragments of trinity-friendly lyrics."
There have been many trying to 'explore the possibility that there may have been a drift" from a starting point of an understanding of the doctrine of the Trinity. After all, even William Irvine was a Presbyterian (at least a pew warmer) until he was 30 years of age. One of the explorations produced well researched historical material from well before Irvine until after his claimed conversion by John McNiel (a Presbyterian. And plenty of evidence showed that the churches of Irvine's first 30 years in Scotland preached at best a very weak or watered down gospel that presented Jesus Christ as the Christian "model" instead of the Savior. And there is plenty from William Irvine's own pen during his above 30 age til death that he rejected Christian theology (the Trinity in particular), even calling any who viewed Jesus as the Savior, "Calvary Ranters."
And none of Irvine's first workers had any more Bible education than Irvine did (and his was from outside the college as a rejected student). Some of that study has been posted on this board, but only a tiny bit of it so far, so the whole study may never again be available online in complete form (it was the size of an average sized book if printed).
"...as a number of hymns prior to 1987 appear to retain fragments of trinity-friendly lyrics" Most of the hymns in the 1951 version (and previous versions) of Hymns Old & New as well as the first workers' hymn book, "The Go-Preacher's Hymn Book" were written by non-2x2 Christians, all of whom William Irvine and his progeny condemned to hell -- but they grabbed their hymns and eventually edited out as much as possible of any Trinity lyrics by 1987. And you can download The Go-Preacher's Hymn Book with the authors added from workersect.org if you want to see that for yourself. If not, then perhaps you will not even accept what has been seen of 2x2s for decades trying to claim belief of the Trinity out of the lyrics of those hymnals - every one of them both basing the claim on a hymnal instead of the Bible and ignoring that the hymns were not 2x2 lyrics to their own disgrace.
What you say that you and others are trying to do on TMB has already been done both sides of it coin pn TMB ages ago. But please, don't let anyone on here discourage you from trying it all over again on TMB if you want to. That is all very good practice of clearing out any remaining cob webs of 2x2ism - those who did it previously are either free now of all those cob webs, or more (as you term it) "dogmatic" 2x2s after doing it.
"So it was part of a speculative, not a dogmatic process. Some people on here seem to be just as dogmatic and deliberately misleading as the workers in putting your point across.... "
Some on here quote Scripture that refutes 2x2 teachings, and I suppose no one can gwt any more "dogmatic" than that. Please watch ouy for all those dogmatics whatever you do, else you will need to find a seat that is not atop a fence.
