You seem to have a mental fixation that somehow ‘requires’ a physical library itself to be sent away. However, the simple fact remains, CRI chose to not answer that part of your request(s). AND it depends on HOW yu understand what I wrote – obviously you read it much differently that it is written.
“I was asking if it was possible for me/anyone to go to a certain CRI location wherever their doc collection is stored and personally peruse the docs by hand--as I have done at PRONI in Belfast.”
Simple fact - you did not write that detailed request(s) to CRI.
But your writing it on here now as if that is what you asked CRI does show the type of Library you think CRI for its research team – i.e., “their doc collection.” Their research team does not use a doc collection to do its research and has not used a doc collection. Doc collections found sealed storage bins in around 1988-89 when digital research software replaced doc collections. The first step with paper documents is scanning, OCR, correction of OCR errors and integration into the research library data base. And perhaps that is why CRI did not answer the question(s) that you did write to them.
