Chris!
I don't expect you to recant anything you've said! But I do hope and pray that things will begin to come into place for you!
Also, I'm very sorry that you were led to believe that the Truth was in action ever since "the Acts of the Apostles" so to speak.
I went through a great disturbance of my own "family roots" when I "read" what you're talking about. It wasn't so much that the "Truth" is wrong but the fact that those who were my family members, my guardians...if you will had "lied to me"! OR WAS IT AN "INFERENCE" garnered by me or by them???? You know, now it really doesn't make a bit of difference to me for I believe in God!
Well, as time and prayers have led me to complete peace about it, I believe the 2 X 2's are about as right in their belief as any other religion! I know there are those who've taken the power of their positions as workers to some others' hurt, but then I also believe in God enough to know that a lot of responsibility for the "wrongs" that have been perpetuated by only "some" of those in authority and they will have to answer for it!
I also firmly believe through a lot of tears and prayers that God can raise up prophets, teachers, preachers, and saints out of the stones should He so desire to do so! Religions are very much like to the Gentile nations like Moses' law is to the Jews, they serve ONLY as a discipline to bring peoples' minds to God and what God wills! I firmly believe in God. I firmly believe what matters the most to God is this: EACH PERSON'S INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD!
So, Chris...as to whom I am, I am a child of God, now I do gather with the 2 X 2's, the gospel workers however one wants to call them! I know what the Bible says about a lot of things and I'm learning what the Bible says about other things! As to repentance? I firmly believe that it is an every day task between God and individual.....As my Gram told me years ago, it's better to pay for one's sins while on this earth then in the afterlife! I believe her! So I have to account for myself every day to God and ONLY to God!
I think also there are scriptures in the Bible that some have taken to mean some extra powers are theirs and that is not so! NOT in this life at least! I'm talking about the scriptures for example that Jesus told His disciples that whosesoever's sin you retain, they're retained in heaven and whosesoever's sins you loose they're loosed in heaven! THAT IS NOT A JESUS GIVEN POWER, it is a WARNING! Perhaps to look at it like this might be more understandable. It was Peter, whom Jesus was talking to the first time...now if Peter goes out and preaches the gospel which is Jesus Christ came to the earth to save the world not condemn it...then Peter turns around and thinks he has some kind of power to forgive or not to forgive...then is it not contradictory to the gospel he has preached of forgiveness for all mankind that Jesus Christ has bled and died?
There is only ONE shepherd, ONE priest, ONE intercessor...everyone else is that "just everyone else"!
I think too it's good to remember the Bible tells us in the old Testament that how we end life is the most important thing. We can start out in our youth trying to be so faithful and obedient but then if we later throw all of that to the wind and quit being a loving, obedient child of God, then that's too bad....and worst part of it all is we don't know when our life is going to end!
As to the books you are telling about, that's what they are, just books of another man's opinion about the subject! I don't fault the man at all, but I do try to remember that they are just another man's opinion! Just like what I'm writing here is my opinion! I'm not judging the man either, for he may very well be in heaven someday. I can tell you that there are workers who I've heard say that we'll get a surprise at who may well be in heaven in eternity and furthermore, we'll be more surprised at who is not in heaven in eternity. Scary, eh?
There is a reason that the Bible has withstood the test of time, Chris, in spite of many efforts to make it disappear, to make it less important....it still ranks as the all time "book"........so there has to be something therein that's lasting, don't you think? And yes, typically we can say it was just written by "men"......I don't think many of us are going to "escape" the importance of that book, the Bible, I mean! JMHOP
Thanks for writing and may you know good days!
