Not a problem Melinda. I really think the first step before you take her to an endocrinologist is to talk to her pediatrician, they would be able to tell you where she is at growth wise as opposed to other kids her age. That would be first route, because endocrinology will want to run tests to see and I know I was not and still am not crazy about being poked and prodded at by strangers, and I imagine she probably feels the same. But before testing it can't hurt to talk to her peds doc and see where she stands growth wise. Then if he/she is unsure go the endocrinology route. But only after the easier route has been taken and dis proven. She will probably need a school check up for next year anyway, so it can't hurt to get it in a little earlier than normal can it?

: Thanks Marisa. Sure hope that is all it is. I
: was always tiny too but she is so little and
: has hardly had any growth to speak of it
: make me worry. I talked to the genetics dr.
: and he said I could always see an
: endocrinologist if I was concerned so was
: wondering if that is something I should
: think about doing.

: Hi Melinda!
:
: I was born with PRS in 1983. At her age I
: think I was about the same as your girl is
: now. I didn't really have my pre-teen
: growth spurt til 12-13 years of age. I know
: it stinks being the shorter one in class,
: but unfortunately everything happens in its
: own time and everyone is different. I have
: never heard of PRS affecting growth in that
: manner before. And if the geneticist isn't
: concerned about it being PRS related I
: wouldn't be too concerned. You can always
: ask her pediatrician and see where she is
: percentile wise as opposed to others her
: age. They would definitely know more than
: anyone if she is where she should be height
: wise. But on a height note. I went from
: being under 5' tall to being almost
: 5'6" tall, most of the final growth
: didn't happen until I was 16. I hit
: 5'2" in elementary school, and then the
: last 4 inches over the course of the
: following 4-5 years. Did not hit almost
: 5'6" til I was 19 years old. Just tell
: her to hang in there, she shoot up like a
: bean sprout one of these days.

: My daughter is now 11 years old and doing
: great, but is very tiny! She is only
: 52" tall and hasn't grown a whole lot
: in the last year. I was just wondering if
: anyone else has that issue? I talked to the
: genetics dr. and he said that he doesn't
: think it has anything to do with the PRS. I
: think she's cute the way she is but at 11
: she sure hates it! Didn't know if it has
: anything to do with her PRS or sticklers so
: was wondering if its something I should
: research further! Thanks
