Hi,
My daughter was born at 32 weeks with PRS and received a trach at 5 hours of age. She had jaw distraction when she was 4 months of age and received a G tube at 2 months of age. They would like to do another distraction in april and she will be only 16 months of age. Is there any reason why this surgery cannot be put off until she is older. Possibly after the age of 4 years. They even say that she will need another one most likely after this one. Thank you

: Hi Krista,
: How are you? Sorry to hear that your
: daughter had to go through jaw surgery but
: so glad to hear she's doing so much better.
:
: I'm a new mom with a 8 weeks old (corrected
: age) who has PRS. Her chin is severely
: recessed as per the Doctors but they have
: not given any timing on jaw distraction
: since she's so young. They said she'll
: definitely be getting it though.
:
: Did you daughter have any catch up growth?
: How much time did it take after the surgery
: for her chin to fully come forward? Before
: the surgery, was she able to eat / feed
: properly and all kinds of foods? Did she
: ever get a G-tube?
:
: Thank you in advance for sharing your
: experience.

: My daughter just had the jaw distraction
: surgery this past March. Her chin was not
: growing and the distraction made a huge
: differnce. She is 5 yrs old and our options
: were this or possibly getting the trach
: back.

: Does anyone know of situations where the jaw
: has not grown?
: Does anyone know any other syndromes that
: cause problems with chin growth?
: Is anyone in contact with any families in
: the UK who have under gone Jaw distraction?
:
: Thanks
