Hi there,
My 6 year old son came home from the Nicu with an ng tube and orders to use the trumpet at nighttime along with pulse ox monitoring. We inserted it each night and taped it into place. I believe it did help him get through the nights without setting off alarms. We did that for quite awhile until they observed chin growth and he amalgam study without it in place. I remember being so scared of having to put it input it did get easier and it seemed to help. We were able to avoid distraction surgery for which we were thankful.
I just came across one of his trumpets the other day and decided to tape it into his baby book. He is now a healthy, rambunctious boy and those days seem long ago.
