Our plastic surgeon had our daughter wear the splint restraints only for the first 2 weeks post op and only when she wasn't being watched. She had no eating restrictions other than food items that didn't readily "dissolve" in the mouth. My advice would be to just use common sense. Don't let her have a spoon or spark that she could potentially jab into the repair. Fingers in the mouth are probably ok unless she's actively prodding the repair flap. I'm a physician so I naturally err on the side of caution, but these repairs are generally held together quite well, so we probably overdid it a bit. Good luck to you.
