With Ashley we didn't use a stroller b/c we had the travel system type with a traditional infant seat configuration which can't accomodate the car bed. Actually thinking back on it we didn't go out hardly at all the first few months b/c of her feeding/breathing issues, stress and worry associated with her condition, just for doc visits mostly, then we just toted her
The buggy style of stroller might work out with the car bed, I'm not sure how long the opening of the stroller is though since the car bed is kind of long. We had a hard time fitting our other two girls in the back of our suv with the car bed since it has to be positioned horizontally in the seat of the vehicle. Your son's weight shouldn't be a problem. Ashley was over 8lb at birth though she did drop some ounces in the nicu with the feeding problems.

: Thank you all for the info on the car seat. I
: did see that seat on the web & if he
: does need it hopefully he can fit into it.
: He's 8.5lbs & 22 1/2inches long. How
: long did your child have to use it & my
: other question is what did you do about a
: stroller since they can't be on their back?
: I am thinking one of those bassinet type
: ones would be best at this point. Thanks!

: Hi Karen...congrats on your new baby!! I am
: happy to hear he is doing well and feeding
: well. The car seat issue is a big one. He
: would do better with a car bed. The staff at
: the hospital should be able to hook you up
: with a car bed or at least point you in the
: right direction. Some medical supply
: companies have them or you can order them
: online. I believe that cosco is one of the
: few people that make them. Good luck with
: your baby and please let us know if there is
: anything else we can help you with. You can
: email me anytime with questions....

: Just had baby boy 3 days ago diagnosed
: w/PRS.
: Has bilateral soft cleft palate issue &
: recessed chin. Rests best on his belly &
: side. Started feeding good today w/Dr. Brown
: bottle w/Pigeon valve in nipple. Good news!
: My one question is being that he doesn't do
: well breathing on his back, what kind of car
: seat does he go in? I heard about the car
: bed, has anyone had this issue? Thanks
