Thanks to all who responded...we went in yesterday for Linnae's pre-op appointment. The x-rays looks good and we are all set for Nov 2. Keeping her healthy for 12 more days feels like an impossible task. My 5 year old has the flu and my 9 year old is coughing. I wish I could hit fast-forward to November 2nd so we could be done with the jaw distraction process. One more question. With the swelling, did your kids have any trouble eating after the jaw distractors were removed? We just got rid of my daughter's ng tube, so I'm hoping we don't have to go back to the feeding tube. Currently, she drinks 95% of her nutrition through a sippy cup, and 5% through purees (spoon). No chewing yet. Please share your feeding experiences after jaw distractor removal. Thanks!

: Our son had his removed in March and the first
: couple days be prepaired for their face to
: be pretty swollen. I was a little taken
: aback by how swollen. But it goes down
: pretty quickly. As far as scars go, not
: sure where your surgeon put his in, but ours
: were the ones that came out just behind the
: ears. They went in under his chin and out
: behind his ear (you just saw the part behind
: his ears). There is VERY minimal scaring
: for the ear portion (you can see a little
: but his hair hides it) and then there are
: scars under his chin on his neck that are
: noticable but only if he lifts his head up
: for you to see. I can send you pictures of
: what he looked like in the hospital
: afterwards and what his scars look like now
: 7 months later.
