Our son had his removed in March and the first couple days be prepaired for their face to be pretty swollen. I was a little taken aback by how swollen. But it goes down pretty quickly. As far as scars go, not sure where your surgeon put his in, but ours were the ones that came out just behind the ears. They went in under his chin and out behind his ear (you just saw the part behind his ears). There is VERY minimal scaring for the ear portion (you can see a little but his hair hides it) and then there are scars under his chin on his neck that are noticable but only if he lifts his head up for you to see. I can send you pictures of what he looked like in the hospital afterwards and what his scars look like now 7 months later.
