Hello,
Our son had his jaw distraction when he was 3 weeks old (about 4 years ago). He had his distractors for 9 weeks. His scars are very minimal. He has 2 little dots on each side of his face. He didn't need surgery to remove it. It was a kind of click system.
Good luck with it.
Kind regards

: On November 2 my daughter is scheduled to get
: her jaw distractors removed! We are
: ecstatic to say the least. What we thought
: would take about 2 months has taken nearly 5
: months, so we are really ready to be done
: with the jaw distraction--and hopefully get
: rid of the trach soon too. Anyway, I'm
: wondering how noticeable the facial scars
: are (for those of you with kids who have
: gone through this procedure). Do they ever
: revise these facial scars, or are they
: pretty minimal? Also, any tips on what to
: expect after this surgery are also much
: appreciated.
