My son had jaw distraction when he was 1 week old, he was intibated from birth and two weeks after surgery, so for three weeks total. The surgery did wonders for him. He couldn't breath on his own in anyway, I do think they did a great job managing his pain with morphine & verasete (sp?). He didn't like to lay on his sides that much just cause i think it was uncomfortable for him. I have TONS of pictures of him with his distractors in, feel free to email me if you want to see them. I was really nervous about being "scared" of the distractors but really I hardly noticed them.
