My son had the jaw distraction done. It was not as bad as we thought it would be. His pain was managed well with morphine. He was smiling at us by the end of the week, so I don't think he was in any pain. After they stopped the morphine all he needed was tylenol on occassion. He would even lay on his distractors, so I don't think they bothered him at all. Let me know if you have questions on anything, I'd be happy to share. Just curious though...why are they doing both the distraction and the tla? Our surgeon wanted to do the distraction to avoid the tla or a trach.
