Hey Holly, Our son Kyno(almost 4) has had his first sleepstudy when he was 2 months old. That one went fine. Now he has got every year a sleepstudy with all the wires, probes, flow sensor, ... Everytime it's a nightmare to make him ready for the test. Especialy when they have to place the flow sensor.
He also has got every 3 months a samplingstudy. this is also a sleepstudy but then with an artificial line to study his CO2 and O2 in his blood every 2 hours)
Here in Belgium we always have to stay at least 2 nights for the sleepstudy, because kids need to get use to the other room, bed, ...
I hope you will try it again. I think it's very important to know if everything goes well during sleep.
Good luck
Kind regards
Tanja

: Hey guys...its me again. Kate had a modified
: barium swallow and sleep study ordered for
: 8wks post palate repair. She had these done
: yesterday. She passed her swallow study
: with flying colors. We went back to the
: hospital last night for her sleep
: study...what a joke!! She has never had one
: done, but i knew a little what to expect.
: Needless to say, this was a disaster. After
: nine hours of screaming and not being able
: to get the air flow sensor thing in her
: nose, I threw in the towel and went home.
: She didn't have any desats or obvious
: apneas, but the tech said without the air
: flow sensor, you couldn't really tell
: anything. This place usually doesn't do
: babies, wich i didn't find out until later.
: The tech was very nice and patient, but Kate
: was the youngest one she had done. I know a
: lot of you guys have kids that have had this
: done....have you had this much trouble, or
: is it just me? What did the air flow sensor
: look like that they used on your babies?
: This one looked like a nasal cannula...like
: for oxygen therapy. Anyways....i don't know
: if I want to try again or not....i know it
: is important. Thanks
