My granddaughter had cleft palate repair one month -ago. She has always hated eating & fights her mother every time she is fed. Fortunately, she hasn't needed to be fed by tube, but it has been an enormous emotional struggle for mother and baby. She is 15 months old now. She screams and cries...doesn't want to try anything...She will take water by cup & even asks for it, but when she sees her milk and cereal or the bowl it is mixed in, she runs. I believe she has a psychological aversion to eating now & feels it is punishment. I feel so sad when she is fed. Everyone is on pins and needles the whole time, and her mother feels like a torturer. Sigh. The doctor told her to just feed her when she asks for it, but my granddaughter will go 24-36 hours without anything but water if she is left to her own desires. Has anyone else experienced this with their child? Thank you for this board,
