My daughter had her tubes placed at 5 1/2 mos. She hadn't had any ear infections before that, but ENT felt it was needed because of the cleft. Once she had them, THEN she started getting infections. The tubes lasted 8mos, when 1 tube was replaced and the other was still in. She is now 2, her hearing registers mild loss, she had a double infection in Oct, and still had fluid a month later. But fluid drained on its own and the last tube finally worked its way out last week. She seems fine, no signs of any more infections, but then I hadn't noticed the last double infection!

: Hi, my son is 8 months old and is starting his
: second round of antibiotics for an ear
: infection that he has had for 2 weeks now.
: My husband had isolated cleft palate,
: chronic ear infections, and tubes as a child
: so we knew ear infections were in our son's
: future. I was just wondering about tubes now
: I am sure things have changed since my
: husband who is now 27 was a baby.
:
: Does your child have tubes? When were they
: placed? How was the procedure for them?
: Also, my husband has some hearing loss, when
: and how often should I have our son seen by
: the audiologist?
:
: Thanks for your input
