This post is very timely, I was looking in my daughter's mouth today and thought it looked like extra tissue under her tongue...interesting to know other have noticed this too in their kids. I wonder how common this is and what the implications are.

: Hello,
: Our son with PRS has also got a lot of extra
: tissue under his tongue. Our speach
: therapist told us this normally should been
: removed directly after birth. But his
: doctors haven't done it because his tongue
: will fall more before his airways. He only
: had the jaw distraction.
: When he's older we can let it remove, but it
: is not realy necessary. It can help for
: speach and for swallowing, but that's not
: guaranteed.
: I hope I've helped you with my information
:
: Kind regards

: Hello, my son Brody has isolated PRS he had
: the Lip to tongue adhesion (failed) and the
: jaw distraction. I've noticed that Brody has
: a lot of "extra tissue" under his
: tongue almost to the point that it looks
: like a second tongue. It has been this way
: since birth and his pediatrician and speech
: therapist do not really have any explanation
: for it. I was just curious to see if anyone
: else has noticed this in their children. I
: have not been able to find any mention of it
: in my PRS research. I appreciate your help
