I'm so glad to hear all went well. It's such a relief when that procedure is behind you!!
Kate was using a bottle several times a day, but only eating 1-2oz at a time. Her biggest feeding was at 7p, she'd take up to 3 or even 4oz with a Pigeon nipple. She loved it, just got too tired eating. The rest was tube fed. ANyway, we didn't wean her from the bottle, and the morning after the surgery, they let me try and feed her. She wanted it, she lunged for it, but the secod that nipple was in her mouth and she sucked, she pushed it out. She never went back to it again. I'd imagine the feel is completely different from having a cleft to not having it.

: Maya is 7 months old and just had her palate
: surgery last week. Its been 7 days since the
: surgery. We spent 1 night in the hospital.
: She is doing really well, we just took her
: off the pain meds. Overall she is happy
: except she hates the no-no's of course. We
: are having a hard time getting her to eat
: but it doesn't seem like she is pain when
: she tries to eat. Prior to the surgery she
: was eating 7ounces a feeding of breast
: milk/formula (not started solids). Now she
: eats like 1 to 1-1/2 ounces at a time, we
: get in 3-5 over the course of an hour
: sometimes. I've tried the nipple we used
: before which was a modified Dr. Brown's and
: also a new nipple modified with a smaller
: hole. She just doesn't seem comfortable
: eating. I would love to know what
: expereinces other parents had with feeding
: after surgery and any advice. I realize its
: only been a week but we're anxious to get
: her back on track. Also, if you hadn't
: started solids by the surgery, how long
: after did you start? Thanks!
