Maya is 7 months old and just had her palate surgery last week. Its been 7 days since the surgery. We spent 1 night in the hospital. She is doing really well, we just took her off the pain meds. Overall she is happy except she hates the no-no's of course. We are having a hard time getting her to eat but it doesn't seem like she is pain when she tries to eat. Prior to the surgery she was eating 7ounces a feeding of breast milk/formula (not started solids). Now she eats like 1 to 1-1/2 ounces at a time, we get in 3-5 over the course of an hour sometimes. I've tried the nipple we used before which was a modified Dr. Brown's and also a new nipple modified with a smaller hole. She just doesn't seem comfortable eating. I would love to know what expereinces other parents had with feeding after surgery and any advice. I realize its only been a week but we're anxious to get her back on track. Also, if you hadn't started solids by the surgery, how long after did you start? Thanks!
