It can be overwhelming having a child in the hospital and coming home with tubes, monitors, etc. - certainly not what any of us imagined. However, you need to be your daughters advocate - make sure you get the answers to the questions you need. If you find your Dr. is always too busy - set up an appointment or time to meet with him/her to discuss all your questions. Make sure you write down all your questions in advance. Also speak with the nurses, feeding specialists, etc. ASK ASK ASK. My son was in the hospital for 3 months and during this time we had several 'team meetings', where all the departments that were overseeing his care came together for a discussion - see if you can set something similar up. Be the squeaky wheel ... you'll feel much more comfortable and able to care for your daugther if you do. Good Luck and remember we have all be there.
