My son's jaw really filled out between 12 and 18 months. He is 19 months now and at Thanksgiving a relative who had not seen him since his 1st birthday exclaimed at how nicely his jaw had grown out. I would say Jackson still has a recessed jaw if you look critically from the side, but I don't think it is noticeable if you are not looking for it. Much better than that first year. I have been told by my plastic surgeon, and so choose to believe, that his jaw will continue to fill out as he ages.
So don't worry at 6 months. I don't think I saw much visible difference then even though by six months his jaw had grown enough to resolve his breathing problems.
Kids grow so much during the toddler years it is really impossible to say what your son will look like in a few years so hang in there.
