Hi Lori!
Congratulations on your new baby boy! My son is 3 mos and no one has ever mentioned jaw distration for him yet...im neither for or against it, as each PRS case is different, but i would strongly suggest a 2nd opinion. It's always a good idea to learn ALL options. I hope you are searching near and far for as much info about PRS as possible. depending on where you are, <which hospital>, you may come to find out that YOU know more than the doctors do! Other parents are really helpful here, so i hope they can tell you pros and cons, as i have not experienced that one yet
proud mommy of Dustyn 3 months old;
PRS, U-shaped cleft in both hard and soft, SVT/WPW, hypotonia, TERRIBLE reflux, in NICU 49 days, gtube at 2 mos

: My son was just diagnosed with PRS. He is
: three weeks old and was born six weeks
: premature. His doctor is scheduling
: distraction surgery for Friday to open his
: airway and help with his feeding issues.
: Any advice on what to expect after the
: surgery? We are just starting to gather
: information on PRS and distraction. Any
: personal experiences you are willing to
: share would be much appreciated!
