One of the biggest things I have learned since my son was born 8 months ago with PRS is that I need to be his main advocate. While everyone in the medical prof. is here to help our children & I truly believe they want to see the best for them, we as parents need to look out for our children's best interests. If you are feeling unsure of the advice/action of your daughters team, absolutely seek opinions elsewhere ... as to what options are best for your child, I am happy to provide you with my experience and recommendations of my son's cranofacial team suggests, but only if you want - as I know everyone's situation is unique. I am from Canada and my son is with the cranofacial team at SickKids (so I may have a completey different perspective with regards to health care & health care options.) : Hey guys...I have been considering getting a
: second opinion for my daughter Kate. She is
: now seven months old and doing really well
: (a chunky 22lbs!) She had a tongue lip
: adhesion done at 3weeks old. I haven't been
: the happiest with my team. I just don't
: think they are as organized or involved in
: my daughters care as I would like. They do
: not plan to do her palate repair until
: 18months. They haven't treated a lot of prs
: babies either. I have been looking into some
: options. The only other hospital that i
: could find that is in "network"
: that has a major craniofacial center is the
: Craniofacial Center at Medical City Dallas.
: Does anyone have any experience with this
: team or know anything about them? Any info
: or advice would be appreciated.
